Whether it’s tricks or treats, there are a full bag of fun activities to enjoy in Kansas City this year. Back in the day, we pulled a few tricks on Halloween. Things are different now though. This year finds us helping our granddaughters prepare their Halloween costumes for their school party and a few other spooky events. I have to say it is so fun to see it through their experiences. Please don’t tell them about the spaghetti – yet!
There are so many activities available in Kansas City this year. You can have the scare of your life at one of the many haunted houses or you can try something with a little less jump-scare factor. There are corn mazes, pumpkin festivals, parades, races, musicals and lots of Halloween “treats”. I did some research and found that the good folks over at The Star had compiled a very comprehensive list of events to appeal to everyone. Before I share that list. Here is my favorite for Halloween 2017. You definitely will find us there in full costume. I mean, history, cemetery tour and Hocus Pocus, what’s not to love?
#1 Halloween Event Recommendation
Scary Movie Night at Union Cemetery
The Young Preservationist of Historic Kansas City are hosting a Scary Movie Night under the stars at Union Cemetery on Friday, October 27th. In addition to the movie, Historic Kansas City will also be giving ghostly cemetery tours that tell of the rich history of Union Cemetery. Watch out for ghosts as you search the graves of Revoluntionary and Civil War soldiers! Choose one or both, but don’t miss this fun family friendly Halloween event.
KC Star – Halloween Fun Guide
Thanks to Dan Kelly for this terrific compilation of events. Haunted houses to pumpkin patches to trick-or-treating
No matter how you choose to celebrate Halloween, please be safe. There are too many reasons to enjoy the fun responsibly. I’d love to hear from you if you have any other great Halloween suggestions.
